PostNet Awards $15,000 Prize to Help Jacksonville Entrepreneur ‘Boost This Biz’

Glass Specialists Inc. Recognized as Winner of National Business Contest on August 5, 2011 

Jacksonville, FL  (August 1, 2011) – Kathryn Morris-Miller, the owner of Glass Specialists Inc. in Jacksonville, FL, and winner of PostNet’s Boost This Biz contest, will receive $10,000 in cash and $5,000 in design, print, copy and shipping services from PostNet to help grow her glass repair and replacement company.

The award presentation will take place on at noon on August 5 at the PostNet of Orange Park, FL, located at 2108 Park Ave, 32073. The event is open to the public and will include catering from Chick-fil-A.

Morris-Miller was one of 244 U.S. entrepreneurs who entered PostNet’s Boost This Biz Facebook contest between May 1, 2011 – June 8, 2011. Contestants were asked to describe their business, what they’d do with the grand prize and then secure the most votes for their submission. Morris-Miller received the most votes of all the entrepreneurs with 610.

The five finalists who received the most votes by June 8 advanced to the final judging round, where an impartial panel of fellow entrepreneurs determined the grand prize winner.

“We’re thrilled that the national Boost This Biz prize was earned by a small business in our backyard,” said Mary Aveni, owner of the PostNet in Orange Park, FL, one of more than 300 Neighborhood Business Center across the U.S. “We’re looking forward to working with Kathryn to see Glass Specialists Inc. continue to grow and thrive.”

Morris-Miller started her company with her husband after he lost his job, and in only two years, they built a strong customer base. In her entry, Morris-Miller explained that the $15,000 will be used to help the company expand its services to offer screen repair, and thus distinguish themselves from competitors in the area.

The four remaining finalists were each awarded $200 American Express gift cards.
