Whether you start the holiday rush the day after Thanksgiving or slowly pick out gifts throughout the year, Gloversville PostNet can make sure that your packages reach their intended destinations on time and in perfect condition.
Located at Gloversville in the Boulevard Plaza, PostNet can ship packages anywhere via FedEx, UPS, DHL and the U.S. Postal Service and is one of the few stores where customers can compare shipping rates and delivery guarantees between all major carriers and choose the option that's right for them.
The weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas are definitely the busiest time for shippers, said PostNet owner Karen Ryan. At PostNet, you'll never have to wait in long lines, and we'll be sure to find the right carrier at the best price to meet your needs.
Ryan recommends shipping gifts on or before Dec. 15, 2011, to get them there by Christmas and avoid more-expensive air shipping. In order to make the holiday season as worry-free as possible, Gloversville PostNet also offers the following shipping tips:
1. Pack properly. The packaging experts at PostNet can help make sure your gift arrives in one piece, but if you are packing a gift yourself, make sure it is in a sturdy box. Cross out any old labels and adequately protect the contents inside. A good general rule of thumb is to make sure packages could be dropped a few feet without breaking.
2. Plan ahead. You can always overnight, but be prepared to pay the price. Ground shipping is typically the least expensive option, and for Christmas deliveries, you should plan on shipping by Dec. 15, 2011.
3. Fruits and veggies know before you buy. States such as Arizona, California, Florida and Hawaii have more restrictions than others. Information on what items can be shipped and where can be found on the Department of Agricultures Web site (www.usda.gov). When in doubt, ask the experts at PostNet.
4. Send to workplaces. If packages are delivered to a home and the delivery is repeatedly missed, the recipient may end up going out of their way to pick up the package at the shipping company's nearest hub. Aside from the convenience factor, shipping to an office can also prevent theft and keep neighbors from snooping.
Ryan also recommends factoring shipping into your purchasing decision.
Golf clubs and hockey sticks may look great on the shelf, but oversized items will always cost more to ship to anyone on your holiday list! Ryan said.
